This is my hp f4480 printer blog

I recently bought 6000k hid's from the group buy. I love them but they took some modification to the wiring to get them to fit like stock. They are nice and bright and match my factory hid good. But like Scottwax said, led's are brighter than you realize. The difference is in the wattage. Probably 95% of what you see and buy is rated less than 1 watt and only 5-20 lumens. A good quality 1 watt led flashlight will shine @ 50-100 feet and you can see clearly. I have a 3 watt with 180 lumens and shines 100 feet easily with twice the light output. The pattern is round and cone shaped. So put in the correct housing to control the pattern it would make a perfect foglight. No heat or power draw. You guys are just looking at some CHEAP quality led's.

Casio has come up with an innovative solution to the problem of LED projectors not being bright enough. The new Green Slim range manages to hit 2,000 lumens by using a combination of LEDs, a phosphor and laser lights. This not only makes for cool, quiet and slim projectors, but is much more environmentally friendly than traditional lamps which have mercury in them.

According to Casio, "this groundbreaking innovation achieves high green light output by efficiently converting blue laser light into green light using the phosphor — a stumbling block with previous conventional semiconductor light sources. The high-brightness light of 2,000 or more ANSI lumens is achieved by projecting blue laser light, green light converted from blue laser light with the phosphor, and light emitted by a red LED through a DLP chip onto the screen."

The range comprises of nine models with four having a 1,280x800 resolution (enough for 720p playback) and five having a 1,024x768 resolution. The devices themselves have a footprint no larger than a piece of A4 paper, and are as slim as 43mm tall, weighing 2.3kg.

Their light sources are said to last over 20,000 hours - just like other LED-based projectors, so running costs are significantly reduced compared to traditional high-pressure lamps. Warm-up times of around eight seconds and wide-angle 2x zoom lenses make the projectors ideal for meeting rooms where short throw lengths and fast operation are needed.

There's no word on pricing or availability yet, but we'll bring you a full review of one or more of the models as soon as we can get our hands on them.

5mm led

This is my hp deskjet f4480 printer review review

Hitachi Cable made an announcement on development of high power red LED featuring a maximum luminous flux of 55 lumens, which was achieved through increase of LED size and use of a fine line electrode structure. The development of new red LED was in direct response to market demand for higher luminous efficiency LED chips. On way to increase the light output per chip is by increasing its size, however larger chips increases the difficulty of distributing a uniform current across the entire light emitting layer. At the same time by placing large electrodes in the upper layer of the chip for a more uniform current dispersion will cause light form the light emitting layer to be blocked, reducing the light extraction efficiency.

TO resolve this issue , Hitachi Cable instead of using larger electrodes, has utilized two pad electrodes for receiving power, a backbone electrode connecting the two electrodes as well as multiple fine line electrodes that extend from the backbone electrode on the upper chip layer. Through this, the company has succeeded in achieving uniform dispersion of current across the entire chip surface without blocking any lights form the light emitting layer resulting in maximum luminous flux of 55 lumens in a 1mm X 1mm size LED chip. The new chip is targeted to be used in light source application for such devices as projectors.

Jazz Club

The Rainbow, Digbeth, Birmingham UK

27-01-10

It’s easy to see why Led Bib was chosen as the 2009 jazz contenders for the Mercury Prize. The great and the good who decide such things have predominantly rock music ears and tastes, and if you pretend for a moment that the two musicians encircled by bass, drums and keyboards are guitarists rather than saxophonists, well, Led Bib could just be a rock band.

But of course they are more than that, just as Miles Davis’s 1970s bands were not rock or funk outfits, and the Zawinul Syndicate was not a world music group, and John Zorn’s Naked City was not a punk band. Like those groups Led Bib is made up of jazz musicians trying to move the music into other territories and enjoying not only the resultant blend but also the resultant clash.

There is a comment elsewhere on this blog about the influence that US musicians like Tim Berne have had on the young UK jazz groups currently making a stir, and the hand of Berne can be felt hovering above Led Bib in blessing.

The back courtyard at The Rainbow provides an apt setting. Its pastiche of a graffiti-emblazoned derelict  factory complete with metal crowd-control railings and skip-retrieved pub benches is cool as hell or post-industrial pretension depending on your viewpoint.

And Led Bib achieve a kind of industrial shriek when they are at full tilt. Their opening few numbers acted as a kind of metallic barrage, the twin alto saxophones, the distorted Fender Rhodes and electric bass played high and strummed all inhabited a narrow sonic band where the ear could buzz and thrill to the nuances of the clashing tones and timbres.

Certainly any conventional jazz presumptions need to be checked in at the door – horns sonically in front of the rhythm section?, extended solos?, the relief of the ballad? No, no, no, you won’t find those here so don’t look for them. The band gives variety in a much more limited way – by leaving one or two of the five out for a while. Some of the evening’s most interesting moments came for me when the saxophones rested and Toby McLaren could show his singular harmonic and melodic sense at the Fender Rhodes. In fact McLaren was fascinating throughout, his percussive technique at high energy moments making him look like a conga player rather than a pianist.

And leader Mark Holub, though behind everyone else on the stage, is crucial, bringing a great rolling and churning energy and bottom to the band, and often managing to combine power and subtlety the most effectively of the lot.

They finished the main set at their most powerful, with saxophonist Chris Williams’ Zone 4 – this had a depth and more subtle texture, as well as stronger melodic fragments, without skimping on the metal power. Or did I just prefer the more extended soloing in this one?

Summary

1. MOCVD Equipment which is used to make LED's used in lighting for notebooks and LED backlit LCD TV's, as well as indoor and outdoor lighting applications are currently in short supply creting a shortage of LED chips used in these applications.

2. The 2 leading suppliers of this equipment are Aixtron and Veeco who control 90% + of the market.

Analysis

1. Lead times on this equipment are running in the range of approximately 6 months.  When the market began recovering in the Spring of 2009 LED manufacturers began to realize they did not have enough capacity in place to meet demand primarily being driven by the backlighting of notebooks and TV's, as well as the continued increase in LED technology for both indoor and outdoor lighting applications.  The manufacturers of the MOCVD equipment have not tried to add significant capacity due to the boom and bust nature of this business, and have managed the business by lead times which are now in the approx. 6 month area.

2. Each of these pieces of equipment cost between $2M-$3M, and even after it has shipped it does take the LED manufacturer time to install and get it running with high yields.

3. LED Backlit TV's which are driving demand will increase from approx. 2.5M sets in 2009 to 20-25 million sets in 2010, and by 2012 could be as high as 75 million set..  each set uses approximately 1000 LED's. so the demand in this sector is potentially very large.

4. It is also rumored that App[lied Materials is considering entering this market as it had recently announced that it was going to make equipment for the OLED market
